Are Chia Pet seeds safe to eat?
While the Chia Pet seeds are specifically processed for growth purposes and are not handled to food-grade standards, they are not harmful if consumed by accident. However, we advise both people and pets not to eat them. The Chia Cat Grass Planter, however, is designed for pets and is safe for them to consume.
Why are the Chia seeds not sticking or are sliding off?
This could be due to a few reasons:
- Water inside the planter: Ensure the planter is dry before applying the seeds, and wait at least two days before adding water.
- Too much water in the seed mixture: Use 1/8 cup of water for every 2 teaspoons of seeds.
- Insufficient mixing: Make sure the seed mixture reaches a thick, jam-like consistency.
- Over-application of seeds: Apply the seeds in a thin, even layer.

What should I do if the seeds slide off after watering the planter?
This typically happens when too many seeds were applied. Apply a thin, even layer of seeds to prevent clumping. The drip tray should collect only a small amount of water within 24 hours. If it overflows, reach out to officialchia@outlook.com for assistance.
Where can I purchase more Chia seeds?
You can buy additional seeds from Amazon.com. While edible Chia seeds can also be used, they might not grow as effectively, so it’s best to test them on a sponge first.
Do Chia seeds expire?

Growing Issues FAQ
Why didn’t my Chia Pet grow?
Several factors could affect growth:
- Low temperature: Place the planter in a warm environment, and use a plastic bag to create a greenhouse effect.
- Insufficient water: Ensure you water daily and empty the drip tray.
- Thick application of seeds: Apply a thin, even layer.
- Lack of air or light: Ensure your Chia Pet gets adequate sunlight or use a fan for airflow.
If you need to refresh the growth, clean the planter using a mild bleach solution, soak for 30 minutes, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
Why does my Chia Pet have uneven or splotchy growth?
This issue is typically caused by insufficient light. Once the sprouts begin growing, place the Chia Pet in full sunlight. Additionally, clumped seeds may fail to sprout evenly. Chia Pets generally reach their full growth in 3-4 weeks, and when the growth becomes leggy, it may be time to refresh.
How do I replant my Chia Pet?
To refresh your Chia Pet for replanting:
- Clean off any old growth.
- Soak the planter in a mixture of water and bleach (1/2 tsp of bleach) for 30 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before replanting.
Planters can be reused as often as you like.
Why is my Chia Pet only growing on the bottom?
If this happens, it may be due to inadequate watering at the top. Ensure you:
- Water the planter daily.
- Empty the drip tray to prevent overwatering.
- Mist the seeds if needed.
- Use a loose plastic bag overnight to retain moisture.
Why does my Chia Pet smell bad and have mold?
Mold and unpleasant odors are often caused by high humidity, insufficient airflow, or too much water. To fix this:
- Move the Chia Pet to a place with more sunlight or use a fan for better air circulation.
- Avoid reusing water from the drip tray.

Cat Grass FAQ
What should I do if my Cat Grass seeds aren’t sprouting?
For better results, use a loose plastic bag to create a greenhouse effect. Be careful not to overwater, and use a spray bottle when the soil feels dry. If you still face issues, contact us at officialchia@outlook.com for replacement seeds.
Where can I find more Cat Grass seeds?
Additional Cat Grass seeds can be purchased on Amazon. The mix contains oat and wheat grass seeds, which are also available at many stores.
Clapper FAQ
What is the maximum wattage for the Clapper?
Each socket on the Clapper can handle a maximum of 200 watts.
What if the red lights on my Clapper don’t light up?
If the red lights do not light up when plugged in, the unit may be defective, possibly due to an electrical storm or an overload of more than 200 watts. In this case, return the unit to the place of purchase.
What if the red lights on my Clapper turn on, but it’s not working?
Ensure that the switch is set to “HIGH,” use the “II Clap” socket, and verify that your appliance’s switch is on. The red lights should respond to claps.
Can the Clapper be used with any appliance?
The Clapper is compatible with appliances that are rated up to 200 watts and automatically turn on when plugged in.
Why does my appliance turn off but not on?
The appliance needs to turn on automatically when plugged in. If it doesn’t, try unplugging and re-plugging it. If it still doesn’t turn on, use a different appliance.
Why does my Clapper turn on by itself?
You can adjust the sensitivity to “Low” or use the three-clap socket to reduce accidental activation.
Can I replace the fuse in my Clapper?
No, the fuse inside the Clapper is not replaceable.
Can the Clapper be used with a 3-way light bulb?
Yes, you can use the Clapper with a 3-way light bulb. Just set your desired brightness level first, then use the Clapper to turn the light on and off.
Can I use the Clapper with an extension cord or power strip?
Yes, the Clapper can be used with both extension cords and power strips.
